MakeMyTrip didn’t just want another sale. They wanted a moment. Something that instantly felt like India’s biggest travel sale ever, with FOMO baked in from day one. The challenge was to coin a name that didn’t need years of cultural conditioning, but arrived with urgency, inevitability – and pressure.
That’s where “muhurat” unlocked everything. In India, a muhurat is never missed. It signals auspicious timing and has FOMO built-in. So we coined Travel Ka Muhurat – a phrase that felt instantly familiar, instantly Indian, instantly important. The kind you’d casually hear in a group chat:
“Bhai, agar abhi book nahi kiya toh travel ka muhurat nikal jaayega.”
We built the entire sale property around this urgency – from bold print assets to two tight, high-impact 20-second films with Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. Both dramatized the same truth: when it’s Travel Ka Muhurat, everything else can wait. Rockets pause, trains stop and entire India books!
What started as a name became a national FOMO trigger and MakeMyTrip’s biggest sale identity yet.
